Awards are presented to independent filmmakers from around the globe who produce original and compelling films and screenplays in several competition
categories. The Alaska International Film Awards recognizes innovative and diverse films that connect independent filmmakers' vision and the artistic
process to the emerging global arts community.
The Alaska International Film Awards recognizes filmmakers who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity and is responsible for honoring
and celebrating new and undiscovered talent worldwide.
Awards will be presented in several categories including three main recognition levels: the Kodiak Award, the Denali Award, and the Northern Lights
Emerging Talent Award. Awards will be presented to more than 15% of total applicants and only to those films that demonstrate a superior level of
craftsmanship and quality. In addition, Best of Category awards will be presented in each main competitive category and Special Jury Awards are
presented to filmmakers who make significant contributions to social change, environmental awareness, and humanitarian causes.
The Alaska International Film Awards is an awards-based film and screenplay competition. Awards will be
announced publicly by Internet and international press release. It is asked that any awards received be
mentioned in the promotional materials of the films being awarded.
